Tenuta La Gigliola covers approximately 300 hectares in the hills of Montespertoli, with 60 hectares of vineyards and 40 hectares of olive groves.
We produce DOCG, DOC and IGT wines, following every stage with artisanal expertise and a deep connection to our land.
Our main grape is Sangiovese, complemented by Canaiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Chardonnay.
The History of the Estate
Once, there was an estate in Tuscany. Its noble house and the church of San Piero in Mercato belonged to a small village filled with clock towers. This picturesque harmony was disrupted by the conflicts between the Guelphs and Ghibellines in the 1300s.
Today, only the bell tower of the Pieve and the tower of Tenuta La Gigliola remain. For many years, the tower served as a private chapel and was lovingly restored in the 18th century. In 1900 it was dedicated to Saint Henry, whose bust still adorns the façade.
La Gigliola has long been admired by the Florentine nobility. The Milani family was equally captivated by the beauty of the estate, surrounded by a park of oaks, pines, ancient cypresses, vineyards, olive trees and even an old tennis court.
The Estate has been producing wine and olive oil since the 1700s, and the current winemaker, Paolo Martinelli, faithfully preserves this tradition.
Immersed in the Chianti hills, the Estate extends over 300 hectares, with 60 hectares of vineyards and 40 hectares of olive groves. Sangiovese is the predominant grape variety, accompanied by Canaiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. For white wines, we cultivate Trebbiano and Malvasia.
